Mind Behind the Game: My Sports Psychology Workshop with Mumbai Cricket Association

The work continues at Mumbai Cricket Association.
Welcomed another fresh batch of players for the next session of our ongoing Sports Psychology Workshop — focusing on mindset, resilience, and the mind-body connection.
My goal for the day was simple: give players tools to strengthen their mind, and give parents tools to strengthen their support.
At age-group level, I see the same pattern: technically sound players who struggle after 1 bad innings.
The difference between players who last and players who quit is rarely talent. It’s mental skills: focus, recovery, and self-belief.
We worked on: Pre-performance routines,Bounce-back plan,Process goals, The Mind-Body Connection, Body Check-In.
During matches -How to reset?
For Parents: You Are the Most Important Support System.
The parent session was my favorite part. Parents want to help, but often add pressure without meaning to.
Things Parents CAN Do to Keep Morale High:
Praise effort not outcome, Words Matter(what you tell the child before and after a match), Safe Home, watch for burnout, Model Resilience, skip-Comparison and over analysis.
MCA is doing important work by investing in mental skills early.
I’m grateful to Mumbai Cricket Association for inviting me and for prioritizing athlete mental health.
