Interactive Projective Poetry: A Unique Mental Health and Arts Experience at Manthan

**Interactive Projective Poetry at Manthan**
The session transformed the audience from spectators into co-creators. Instead of presenting a pre-written poem, I invited participants to answer a series of spontaneous questions inspired by psychiatry, emotions, resilience, and human experiences. Their responses—ranging from insightful and heartfelt to witty and unexpected—became the building blocks of a single poem.
As each answer found its place, the poem unfolded in real time, weaving together diverse voices into one shared narrative. The process highlighted how every perspective, no matter how different, contributes meaningfully to a larger story.
More than a poetry performance, the session became an exploration of projection, creativity, and collective expression. It celebrated the intersection of psychiatry and the arts, demonstrating how words can foster reflection, connection, and a sense of shared humanity.
Thank you to the organizers—the IPS Art & Culture Subcommittee, Bombay Psychiatric Society, Masina Hospital, and Poets of Psychiatry—for creating a platform where science, storytelling, and creativity could come together in such a meaningful way. And to everyone who participated: this poem belonged to all of us.
