St Michael Church arranges for awareness talks for the community every Saturday during the Lent period. These talks are conducted from experts from various fields related to psychology and community service.The parents and family members were duly informed about the program through circulars and even a mention in Maharashtra Times and Loksatta.
On the 14th of March Dr Nahid Dave delivered a talk on the challenges faced by parents in the current era. The different styles of parenting were discussed. The reality of over-parenting and myths of psychiatry were also explained. The major difficulties faced due to social media usage, academic difficulties and depression in younger age group.
In order to make the talk engaging, 5 roleplays were enacted by Dr Nahid and her colleague Shridhar Kulkarni.
Shridhar Kulkarni is a counselling psychologist ,he participated in the roleplays and also conducted a 5 minutes mindful meditation for all the parents.
The audience asked a variety of questions towards the end of the talk, and were very warm and welcoming.
